Newlands Hill Education Programme - 24/25 Summary

The Belltown Power Educaton Programme continued its provision of education workshops for primary school children in the East Lothian. In partnership with Earth Energy Education, Newlands Hill Wind Energy Hub has sponsored and delivered in-class workshops and site visits to Newlands Hill at 8  primary schools local to the project.

Newlands Hill Education Programme - 24/25 Academic Year Summary

Over 200 students from the following primary schools have participated in workshops focused  on providing engaging STEM education connected to renewable energy development: 

  • The Compass School,
  • Leithen Mains Primary School,
  • Haddington Primary School,
  • East Linton Primary School,
  • St Marys RC Primary School,
  • Yester Primary School,
  • Innerwick Primary School, and
  • Stenton Primary School,

In-class workshops and site visits are organised and engage with interactive topics such as understanding the principles behind wind turbine blade design and biodiversity studies with a view to inspiring the next generation to continue to pursue these subjects and open their minds to a future career in the energy sector. 

Since introducing the Newlands Hill Education Programme in 2022, over 750 students have benefited from educational workshops. The Belltown Power Education Programme itself has reached over 10,000 students since its inception in 2015.
